Disappointed by the History Channel….yet again

History Channel meme

Well, it appears that the History Channel has learned nothing from my scathing post about them a few years ago and the many comments backing up my position. Clearly they are not listening to their plethora of viewers (I would say fans, but at this point I would not claim to be a fan) who are BEGGING for them to quit with the shitty reality TV. At the very least, all we want is for them to honor important dates in history. Is that too much to ask? That does not include a Pawn Stars marathon on D-Day and Memorial Day.

Please join me in being majorly pissed off at the History Channel.  Yeah History Channel, we are looking at you and not liking what we are seeing.

I completely agree. For a good alternative check out The Military Channel. http://military.discovery.com/tv-shows/tv-schedule.htm

Though I have not seen any of the programs on the schedule (I do not watch much TV), at least there is an alternative to the “History” Channel.

I concur! I was SO disappointed that they had absolutely nothing on D-Day, but not terribly surprised. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but no more of that.

The history channel selling out is one of the BIG reasons I cut satellite. I now get that education fix from DVDs, old history shows on YouTube and books. ( sometimes PBS) Man history was so awesome back in the day. Now it is just SHIT.

History International was one of the best channels on premium packages . It covered a lot of ground from big sailing ships to the history of guns and wars. it has shows on famious criminals/outlaws and even some supernatural stuff. The dippy dos turned it into H2. That was good for about six minutes. Every time I’m near a tv that has that channel it reminds me why I cut the cord. (It is the same stuff aliens…UFO crap as the regular channel but with one or two ok shows on it.

Don’t even get me started on “counting cars” and “Bamazon”

I miss the good old day….I weep. :)

I’m so old that I remember when the History channel actually did…you know…history.

Came across your post about the History Channel’s sad/bad programming and agree heartily. Things have only gotten worse since your post last year. The Pawn Stars at least deals with real artifacts, even if it is “history lite.” If I see the Ancient Alien dude with his bad ‘do spout his nonsense once more, I swear I’m going to puke. The History Channel 1&2 used to do entertaining pop history, but as you say, they seem to be into bad reality shows which have nothing to do history. What’s next, a history of the Kardashians?
